Happy Spring!! Good luck to those in the musical on Sunday!! We can't wait to see it as a class on Tuesday!! Red Folders are going home today, as well as their social studies folders, to review for the test next week. Please return both on Monday!

Bake Sale
**Along with the 2 dozen treats your second grader brings in, please also send them with canned goods for the Atlanta Community Food Bank and so they can "purchase" treats. Below is a list of suggestions that the Food Bank needs.
EVENT: SECOND GRADE BAKE SALE
WHEN: Friday, March 25th 1:45 pm - 2: 45 pm
WHY: Please help support the 2nd graders tzedakah project and annual bake sale for Purim. They will “sell” sweet treats in exchange for cans, plastic bottles, or boxed goods to benefit the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Each item will “cost” 2 cans/plastic/boxed goods in exchange for a sweet treat. Students will be allowed to purchase 3 treats maximum! We really appreciate your donations. The Food Bank CAN’T accept glass of any kind. Here is a list of their most needed items:
Whole grain foods
Whole wheat pasta
Brown rice
Whole grain cereal
Whole wheat flour
Whole grain crackers
Plain oatmeal
Shelf stable milk (cow, soy, rice, etc.)
Fruit, dried or canned in light syrup or juice
Low-sodium, no salt added vegetables
Low-sodium pasta sauce in plastic container
Foods high in protein
Natural peanut butter (no hydrogenated oil)
Dried beans
Dried peas
Dried lentils
Canned tuna - canned in water, not oil
Canned salmon - canned in water, not oil
Canned chicken - canned in water, not oil
Unsalted nuts
100% fruit and/or vegetable juice
Cooking oil
Olive oil
Canola oil
Important Dates
3/20- Lion King, jr. 1 PM and 7 PM
3/21- Lion King, jr. 6:30 PM
3/22- Lion King, jr. 10:30 AM (preschool show)- we will depart school around 10 and return by 12PM
3/23- Social Studies test, unit 3, open note
3/23- no homework night
3/25- 2nd grade bake sale and Purim
4/21- Class Passover Seder @ 8:15 AM

Dear 2nd grade parents,
These past week we learned about the holiday of Purim by singing songs, listening to the Megillah story, practicing the blessings, reviewing the 4 Mitzvahs, reading stories, working on holiday worksheets and using short sentences expressing ideas in Hebrew.
Our letters in our ARIOT book were: פּ, פ, ף PEY, FEY, FINAL FAY )FEY SOFIT(.

Ozney Haman
אוזני המן
Haman’s ears—a Purim treat!
6 cups of flour
2 cups sugar
4 tbs baking powder
Dash of salt
**** mix above ingredients and make a hole in the middle.
Add:
4 eggs
1 cup oil
1\2 cup orange juice
Knead the dough and put in the fridge for a few hours or overnight.
**** roll out the dough with a rolling pin- sprinkle flour if sticky, cut out round circles, fill with jelly, poppy seed or chocolate kisses and fold into triangles.
**** bake in a 400 oven for about 10 minutes.
