Learning Coach Training Follow-up From Wendy
Thank you for attending class with your learner(s) this week. We are confident that this first week’s sessions will result in a strong start for ALL of us—learners, learning coaches, and OVS Staff. A follow-up email will be sent to LCs that attended and those who were unable to attend to ensure that we are all setup for success.
Reflection with your learner
If you haven’t done already, please take some time to reflect with your learners about:
- schedule and routines
- learning environment (in the kitchen, office, library?)
- what worked first semester and what didn’t
and make adjustments accordingly.
The skills that learners in our program practice daily, making a schedule, making to do lists, reflecting on time, reflecting on learning, etc., are all skills that align with our vision of Future ready, today! These are skills that I’m still working on refining!
Reflect with yourself!
On that note, please take time to do reflection with yourself. What routines work for you, which don’t? Tweak, adjust, and repeat (and share out!). Remember, we are all learners at OVS. It was wonderful to see learning coaches sharing their tips and tricks this week during training!
Thank you all for your hard work and dedication to your learner's success!
-Wendy

Week in Review:
Thank you for attending the orientation, if you have any questions about anything we talked about please email me! We talked in class about how MAP testing is just to find out what you know and we just need to do our best!

We will be having Map testing next week so please make sure you are signed up for three sessions. This means we will not be having regular classes. Please be prompt for drop off and pick up next week for the testing sessions. Mr. Gamble's Class Update
Week in Review:
Welcome back! We got in the flow this week with our orientations. If you have any questions about what was covered, don’t hesitate to contact me. I apologize for my absence in a few sessions as I was at the high school and in training at the teacher center.
Looking Ahead:
This week we will be having MAP testing all week. Sessions are in the Sign-up Genius. Each student will attend three sessions to take our Winter MAP to see how much growth was achieved during the first semester.
Resources:
This month’s resource can be effective for all courses. Mathway is a great resource for parents to support their learners in math. This free math problem solver answers Algebra, Geometry, and many more problems with step-by-step explanations. It is set in the form of a scientific calculator for all notations.

The schedule for regular online Math sessions is as follows:

- Math 07: Mondays @ 10:15 – 11:00.

Remember: The science fair is on January 17th at 5:30 - 7:30 PM. This is required for all science students. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mrs. Robison's Class Update
Happy 2019! A new year brings a new start! Fresh notebooks, clean folders, sharpened pencils and a re-commitment to organizational strategies are all things that will help kick off a successful second semester!

Please bring notebook to Face to Face time next week! This will be a helpful tool to get the year jump started! Enjoy your weekend and I look forward to learning with you this year!
