Last week, we began Unit 2- “A Starry Home.” The unit 2 essential question is “should we make a home in space?” Students will compare and contrast the text “Dark They Were and Golden Eyed” to the radio play performance. We will discuss the benefits and drawbacks of space exploration. Students will identify different types of figurative language: similes, metaphors, and personification. They will also identify verbs and adverbs in sentences.

Course 2 students (2nd, 4th, 10th periods) will begin Chapter 3 on integers this week. The focus will be on adding and subtracting integers.
Accelerated math students (3rd period) will continue their work with integers as they subtract, multiply, divide, and apply integer operations.
REVEAL math students (8th period) will also continue their work in Module 3 as they add, subtract, and multiply integers.
SOCIAL STUDIES
We will be finishing our chapter on the Revolutionary War. This will wrap up our second unit, Revolution in the Colonies. We will be reviewing the entire unit on Thursday, and take a unit test on Friday, November 13. Our next unit is all about the Constitution.
SCIENCE
After finishing up a choice product assignment in the beginning of the week where students are able to let their creativity shine through while explaining the differences between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, we will be looking more closely at eukaryotic cells. What organelles are in plant and animal cells and what is their function in the cell are questions we will begin exploring more this week.
