Kindergarten Kingdom News...

Mrs. Johnson's and Mrs. Lawlor's Kindergarten Class

We are learning...

Language Arts and Reading: We read books about Community Helpers this week. We also learned about a "Table of Contents" and how to use it to locate chapters in a book. Ask your student about the books: A Day in the Life of a Firefighter and A Day in the Life of a Police Officer (both written by Jan Kottke.)

Math: We are counting, writing, and representing numbers. One of our favorite activities this week was "Building My City." Students rolled dice and then built a "building" out of cubes representing the number they rolled. We have some future city planners in our midst!

Science/Social Studies: We are learning about Community Helpers. We will talk about why people have jobs and discuss the difference between "NEEDS" and "WANTS" next week. We will also visit the cafeteria on Wednesday to learn about how our lunches are made and to bake a cookie. (This had to be rescheduled from today due to a delivery conflict in the kitchen.) Our Unit will culminate with our "Job Share Day" on Friday, September 11th.

SAVE THE DATE:

Wednesday, September 30th~ Kindergarten Field Trip

We will be visiting Southern Belle Farm (8:30am-1:30pm)

The "Permission Form" for the trip will come home in your student's folder on Tuesday, September 8th.
