The Manning Weekly Update
February 6, 2023

Hello Manning Parents,
Here is some news for you...
*Our 2023 Poetry Cafe was a big success. It was great to see so many parents and guests attend this fun event. Our 8th graders did an outstanding job with their poems. We want to thank Mrs. Keodonexay and Mr. Hovinen for putting the Poetry Cafe together. Thanks to all the parents and guests who donated to this event.
*This Wednesday, Feb. 8th, is a big day for our STEAM students who will participate in NASA's "Critical Design Review" at the Jeffco Ed Center. NASA uses this process to select the teams that will travel to the Johnson Space Center in April to exhibit their design to a broader NASA review team to eventually have their design manufactured and sent to space! Good luck STEAM students!
*Our Math Counts team will attend their competition this Friday at Front Range Community College. Go Math Counts team!
Thanks for all your support! Mike Collins

Parent/Teacher Conferences:
Thursday, February 23rd, 4:00-7:30 p.m. (In-Person Only)
Manning teachers will be holding conferences with families on an “invite only” basis. Teachers will be reaching out over the next two weeks to schedule these in-person conferences with you and your child.
Please note: If your student has a teacher for both a core class and an elective, you will only have the one time slot to meet with them to discuss both classes.
In addition, please continue to monitor your students' attendance and grades in our online grading/attendance system, Infinite Campus. Of course if you have any questions, please feel free to email your students' teacher or counselor.
School Safety
As we are settling into the second half of the school year, we thought this would be a good opportunity to remind you and your students about safety. Student safety is always our top priority. Please be sure to discuss and check in with your student(s) about the following:
- Situational awareness - it's important that your student is aware of what is going on around them whether in school or outside of school
Remind your student to always walk with a friend and be aware of his/her surroundings when off school grounds
Strangers - discuss different situations that may occur with a stranger; remind students if approached by a stranger to yell or shout, run away, and tell a trusted adult what happened immediately
Impress upon your student the importance of going straight to school in the morning and coming home immediately after dismissal
If your student sees anything suspicious around the neighborhood or school, report it immediately to a trusted adult, staff member or local law enforcement
We appreciate our school community keeping us informed of incidents that occur at school or outside of the school day. Together we can help protect the well-being of our school community.
Virtual Reality IS a Reality!
Respectfully,
Danelle Yocum
Assistant Principal
