CTE Welding Competition Results
Alief ISD high school students scored top places at the Texas State Welding Contest held in San Marcos. Jaden Moore (Taylor) placed first, and Michael Salgado (Hastings) placed second in Level 4, the highest category.
Salgado also won first place out of 53 contestants in Level 3 competitions at the Texas High School Welding Series Signature Event at Lee College.
Alief ISD middle school students were recognized at the Texas Junior Speech and Debate Association State Tournament.

- Chau Nguyen (O’Donnell Middle School) - State Finalist
- Shirley La (Albright Middle School) - State Finalist
Alief ISD high school students earned eight state medals at the UIL State Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) competition in San Marcos.

In addition, Oko was awarded a $100 scholarship from the Texas Art Education Association.
Seven Kerr High School students were named Texas Music Scholars by the Texas Music Educators Association.
This award is given to students who exhibit outstanding qualities in scholastic merit, musicianship and citizenship in their school and community during the current school year. Last year, fewer than 1,800 students were named Texas Music Scholars.
Elsik High School student Anamercedes Sanchez was spotlighted by FOX 26's Making the Grade segment.
The Alief Early College High School Mock Trial Club and Intro to Law class won the University of Houston Mock Trial Competition for the second year in a row.
The annual competition was held at the High School for Law and Justice.
