Fall and Winter Clothing
As the weather starts to cool off, please remember to send your student to school wearing the appropriate clothing. Jackets and shoes that tie would be perfect!
November 4 - 50th Day of School!!
Wednesday, November 4th is the 50th day of school. To celebrate this day we are going to be learning about life as a first grader in the 1950’s. To make this learning experience more meaningful students will dress as if they are from the 1950’s. Some examples of 50’s attire are poodle skirts, letterman jackets, slicked back hair, rolled up jeans with a white t-shirt, penny loafers, leather jackets and scarfs around necks. Think Grease and Happy Days! We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Guided Reading
Your students participate in reading centers every morning. One reading center they visit everyday is guided reading. This center is a teacher led center where students have the opportunity to practice reading skills such as decoding unfamiliar words, fluency, and sight word practice. During these guided reading groups we are also working on vocabulary and comprehension skills. This week we will be reading fiction and non-fiction stories related to fall.
No Letterland Homework this Week!
As we end this quarter, we will be reviewing all 7 units of Letterland that we have already studied. No new unit will be coming home this week. Thank you!
