WRAPPING IT UP WITH A SMILE!
The Owl and the Pussycat
I taught this lesson to students who were at home and in my classroom at the same time. The first week, a student recited a poem with her dad on Google Meet, and we talked about how pictures can help tell a story. Then students drew what they heard as they listened to The Owl and the Pussycat (by Edward Lear). The second week, we made finger puppets and used them to act out the story. This artwork is from the third week: It was the grand finale, where students got to create what I would normally use as a book cover for the poem. Students at home used crayons, colored pencils, etc., while students at school learned Sharpie safety and watercolor techniques.
Thanks for sharing the idea and a sample of a student's work, Leanne!
