Principal's Newsletter
Week of; June 8-12
Dear Cunniff Families,
We’re embarking upon the last full week of remote learning. If the home and school relationship has ever been put to the test, it has been this year. I am so proud of our students, faculty, staff, parents, and guardians. Each has put forth their best efforts individually and collectively, drawing on previously established routines and managing to adjust to a remote world in an instant. As parents and guardians, you were asked to become educators while managing your own professional responsibilities and parenting as well. You have done a remarkable job. I hope that as the year draws to a close, you are able to take a moment to reflect on all that you have accomplished as our partners in educating your children since early March.
Tomorrow the Cunniff School move to Cunniff West begins. It is anticipated that this process will take until Thursday. On Friday, once the movers have completed their work, the unpacking will begin at Cunniff West. We have a schedule where faculty and staff are signing up to come in to complete this process. On Monday, June 15th, the contractors will begin their work at Cunniff.
I hope that you are looking forward to the celebration meetings that are taking place with teachers on Thursday, June 11, Friday, June 12, and Monday, June 15. Teachers are excited about hosting these 10-minute meetings with you and your child. If you did not sign up to participate, please visit: Cunniff End of Year Celebrations 2020
A Panorama survey link will be sent out to parents/guardians mid-week. The purpose of this survey is to gather feedback and to use this information for planning purposes relevant to the next school year.
The Watertown Free Public Library is here to help keep students on track with their annual Summer Reading Program. Just as they did last year, they’re playing Bingo this summer! Bingo cards will be available beginning June 16 for all students entering grades K-5 in Fall 2020. Please visit THIS website for book lists organized by grade level and more information. The WFPL is a great resource and reading throughout the summer months helps to prevent summer regression.
We’re looking forward to having the fifth-grade students stop by the Drop and Go on Monday, June 15 to pick up their diplomas. Parents/guardians will pull up with a car or walk up, and we will present a diploma to each student. Mrs. Barry and Ms. Dempsey’s students are scheduled to arrive at 1:00, Ms. Coveno, and Mrs. Murphy’s students at 1:15, and Mrs. Erwin’s students at 1:30. A Zoom Clap Out will also take place.
My daily morning meeting will continue this week. Here is the link.
