How Water Demands Have Changed
Over 2000 years
Introduction
This is my photo essay on how our local water demands have changed throughout the past 2000 years and how they can change in the future.
We use water in present to wash ourselves. 2000 years ago people did not have pipes running into their homes and bath tubs to bathe in.
2000 years ago people used water to clean them selves. People also used water to catch fish and transport things using canoes.
Water demands have changed over the past 150 years because people in present day can go to the grocery store to buy their fruits and vegetables. When the first European settlers came to the Okanogan they had to plant their own food and when there was a drought or flooding that became an issue. Now not everyone worries about their crops because they don't have any, people are more interested in keeping their lawns healthy. If there was a flood or a drought it would be very difficult to keep your crops alive 150 years ago.
Since the past 150 years people have needed water for their luxuries such as hot tubs, swimming pools, and fountains. Before there where hot tubs and other luxuries people didn't use water for extra luxuries, they used water to get done what they needed to get done. The water demand levels have increased since 150 years ago because of how needy people have gotten.
In present day most people don't realize how much water we use, whether it's for sports like the ice in hockey, or the sprinklers to keep the soccer fields green. We also use water for our houses every morning for our sprinklers.
People in present day worry about our water because if we don't get enough rain and moisture the risk of fires will increase.
I think that in the future people will use water to run lots of electricity because lately people have been inventing new things, often electronic, and we use water to run electricity into houses to get power
In the future I feel like people will worry about not having enough filtered water to drink. That could be an issue to think about because of major population increase, droughts, and local fires.
Humans have affected water because of pollution. People can prevent changing the clean water into dirty water by not littering and being good to the environment by not useing so much gas
