Hampton Bays Middle School
Monday Memo #21
Try something new this week!
Dear T.E.A.M. :
Five more days until the February Break! We can all agree, both scheduled breaks and the occasional snow day surprise can be a seasonal highlight, if not a breather from the day-to-day challenges that require us to be mentally, physically, and emotionally strong for our students.
It can also get us thinking about those students of ours who depend on life at school as part of their regular routines. This week's resources are focused on getting us thinking about our students, and what outgoing messages we send them about learning...in school and out of school.
Visiting classrooms this past week, there were countless examples of teachers sharing what they value. In turn, it was evident that students were reflecting back what they value, to our teachers.
This week, I encourage you to try something new. Pick something from the Advisory Menu you haven't tried yet. Read an article or watch a video about a topic that interests or intrigues you. Share a best practice. Have a discussion. Meet a colleague you haven't yet met. Plan something incredible for our kids. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Be the reason a kid comes to school.
As always, I appreciate all you do, for our middle school students and our program.
Sincerely,
Dennis
