From the Principal

Dear Stewart Families,

We had a great start to the new school year! Thank you for your patience as we made improvements to our arrival and dismissal process. We have approximately 100 additional cars in the morning and in the afternoon. Students are learning the process and we are getting students dismissed quickly and safely.

School safety continues to be a priority for our staff and our students. We will continue to hold fire drills, lockdown drills and bad weather drills. We will be holding parent meetings soon to help you better understand our safety processes and the training our staff is receiving. Please remember to complete the "Volunteer in CISD" form which is a background check that will allow you to participate in activities that will be held in classrooms and volunteer in various areas throughout the building.

We hope to see all our parents/guardians here for Parent Information Night on September 10th. I want to encourage to to attend. It's a great opportunity for you to hear directly from your child's teacher.

Thank you for supporting our Mustangs. We appreciate all you do!

Dr. Julie English

Counselor's Corner

Dear Families,

We are excited to welcome everyone back for a wonderful school year. We have many new faces at Stewart this year! I am excited to introduce to your our new counselor, Ms. Tisha Smith. Ms. Smith has been a counselor for eight years in CISD working previously at a school in The Woodlands. Ms. Smith and I will be working very closely this year with all teachers and students. We are excited for the opportunities of having two counselors on campus to help provide more support when needed.

Ms. Smith and I will be holding new student Lunch Bunch groups to welcome in our new Mustangs. A permission form has gone home with these students. During this lunch bunch we will share happenings around Stewart Elementary and allow these students to meet other new friends to share in this new year with. We are excited to meet all of our new Mustangs!

Wishing you all a happy and great school year!

Mrs. Reagan and Ms. Smith

Teaching Literacy at Stewart

Our teachers will be teaching reading utilizing a Reader's and Writer's Workshop model. Our teachers have worked hard this summer building and organizing their own classroom library. Students will begin taking books home soon. It's important that children read at home, as well as, at school. Please help our teachers by ensuring that the books get back to school to return to the classroom library. Teachers will discuss this in more detail during Parent Information Night. Please make plans to attend.

Crust Pizza PTO Spirit Night

Thank you to all our families who supported Stewart Elementary during our spirit night at Crust Pizza. It was great to see our students and families there! Everyone had so much fun.

A huge thank you to our wonderful PTO! We love our backpack hooks outside the classrooms. They help us keep the halls clear and they look beautiful too!

Another huge thank you to the Woodforest Church for providing reading book bags for our students. These are used in our classrooms to help students organize and keep up with the books they are reading for the week during Readers Workshop.

Safety at Stewart Elementary

The safety of our Stewart Mustangs is a priority for the teachers and staff. We have scheduled several drills throughout the school year for students to practice what to do in case of a fire, lock-down and severe weather.

Please also follow all morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up procedures so we can keep our children safe. This also helps our arrival and dismissal processes run efficiently.

Our campus is planning to hold a safety information meeting for Stewart families on October 3rd at 6:00PM. We hope to help you better understand more about safety and security plans for our Mustangs.
