Principal Memo
Dear Fammatre Families,
Please join me on Thursday, January 23rd, at 8:00-9:00 am in the cafeteria for a Principal Coffee. This is an informal opportunity for you to ask questions and for me to share some of the exciting events and learning taking place around Fammatre.
Enrollment for 2020-21 has begun! Please help us get the word out to any families considering Fammatre. In case you missed it last week, here is the link to a video highlighting some of the things that make this such a special place for students to thrive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5B70ZAPbxk. We will be hosting informational tours for new families on the following dates: Tuesday, February 4, Wednesday, February 12 and Thursday, February 27 at 9 a.m. Please call the office at 408-377-5480 to let us know if you plan on joining us for one of the tours.
I want to make you aware of two wonderful after school programs for students in grades 3-5. The first is Girls on the Run. Trained coaches lead small teams through a research-based curriculum which includes dynamic discussions, activities and running games. Over the course of the ten-week program, girls develop essential skills to help them navigate their worlds and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. The program culminates with girls positively impacting their communities through a service project and being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k event. There is still space available, here is the link: https://www.cambriansd.org/Page/2477
The second program is called Let Me Run. We are so excited to be offering this opportunity for the first time at Fammatre this spring. Let Me Run is a nonprofit wellness program that inspires boys to be themselves, be active, and belong. With a comprehensive curriculum that applies the power of running, the program encourages boys to develop their psychological, emotional and social health, in addition to their physical health. Designed to amplify confidence, self-expression, and respect for others, each practice includes a lesson from the Let Me Run curriculum that incorporates running, games and activities. The culminating event is a 5k race festival that celebrates the boys’ personal growth. Look for a link and details on signing up in our weekly newsletter.
Warmly,
Jackie Smith
Principal
