Uses, Concerns, and Worries over the years?
Fresh water is plentiful in some places.
When the 1st Okanagan Nations dealt with water, they did it in a respectful and thankful manner. Water was sacred and provided food from farming and fish, as well as drinking water.
The worries the 1st nations may have had were mostly about floods or something happening the the water that would damage their food sources.
150 years ago, the 1st European settlers in the Okanagan, built their homes by creeks and rivers to ensure that they had enough drinking water and water for livestock and plants.
The worries the 1st Europeans had was that they were concerned that they weren't getting their fair share of water. Some homes would build dams so that more water would come to them, but this would often cause some homes to loose their water, or not get enough.
In present day Okanagan, almost all citizens have access to fresh water for drinking and such. We also use water to get electricity, such as building power dams in rivers.
The worries we may be having present day are mostly about what is in our water, or what could be in it.
There are so many factories and such that could and are, polluting our water sources.
There are also sometimes floods that can get out of hand.
50 years from now in the future, people may start using sea water to get electricity by pumping sea water up threw pipes using hod and cold air, to turn power wheels and such.
The worries we may have in 50 may or may not be much different then they are now. Mostly about what is being put into our water and about if we will have enough fresh water.
