Vaccinations at schools

You’re aware of Government’s decision that all staff and workers who may have contact with children and students in schools and kura must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by 1 January 2022. This measure has the support of education entities including the representative bodies of teachers and principals. As the employer, we are responsible for ensuring the Government’s Health Orders are put into practice. A fully vaccinated education workforce provides reassurance for parents and whānau that it’s safe for their children and young people to attend school, and benefit from being with their friends and face-to-face learning with their teachers.

The health and wellbeing of our students, staff, and everyone involved in the safe operation of our school is something we take very seriously.

We appreciate all the efforts of parents and whānau to keep children and young people safe and engaged in their learning. Please remember if your child is unwell in any way, to keep them home and notify us of their absence through our school App or by phoning the office.

We will continue to update you with the latest public health and other information as it becomes available.

It is with some sadness therefore that we are having to hold our prizegivings at school without parents in attendance. We will video the prizegivings and make them available on the website. The Ministry of Education advice was not to hold these events, but we feel they are too important not to, and so by making them student-only celebration ceremonies to minimise risk, we can compromise on one of our most important events in the calendar.

Students wearing facemasks on the buses

Students are now required to wear facemasks on all buses to and from school. Please help and support us with this, we do understand the difficulties around wearing of the masks, and students need to supply their own. Please give us a call if you need support with this.

Student Vaccination Status

We are also required by law now, to collect information about the vaccination status of our students. We will do this carefully and keeping in mind the privacy of our students. If they do not wish to give us that information we will simply record them as not vaccinated.

These are certainly unprecedented times and we are doing things now we would rather not.

Thank you as always for you support of our school and what we are trying to achieve.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Our students continue to strive for and achieve success!

Congratulations to the students in Years 11, 12 and 13 who finished the third term having achieved their NCEA qualification ahead of the end of the year. Excellence and Merit Endorsements are achieved by gaining 50 credits or more at Excellence level or 50 credits at or above Merit level. These endorsements represent significant commitment to complete assessed work at the highest possible level across all subject areas.

It is this level of dedication that forms the basis for much success and helps make our students EXCELLENT. We encourage all students to push hard in the final weeks of 2021, as Full Merit and Full Excellence Endorsement and an amazing CV are advantageous when tackling the future!
