The Soto Scoop

Seek Excellence, Achieve Results

Principal's Message

This week we will be hosting Parent-Teacher Conferences. It is important that we make the most of them to help our students reach academic success. We know firsthand that family engagement matters. Not only does research show that it improves school readiness, student achievement, and social skills, we see the difference that informed parents make in the life of our students everyday. Lets remember that family engagement takes the committed actions of both families and schools working together—through parent–teacher conferences as well as other forms of engagement. Make sure that every effort is made to invite parents and that we are prepared to conference with them.

A few notes and reminders--

  • Don't forget to review and analyze common assessment results and Istation/DOL data to inform your instruction, form tutoring groups, and adjust your plans for the second six-weeks. Administrators will host data conferences with teachers on October 19th to review all student data.

  • Join the Sunshine Committee and contribute to building our school culture. Amongst the events and activities they organize-- Christmas party, birthday treats, and tokens of appreciation.

  • Thank you for engaging in goal-setting conferences and submitting Student Learning Objectives/PD plans. Teachers who received additional time due to leveling shifts must submit them by October 23rd.

  • Don't miss the opportunity to sign up for the 2015 ACP Fall Film Festival to view first semester tests.
