Gone with the Wind is based off of a book by Margaret Mitchell, published on June 10, 1936. The book has 1,037 pages, and the movie is 3 hours and 45 minutes long. David O. Selznick is the producer of the film, best known for producing Gone with the Wind, although he has brought to life several other notable stories, such as David Copperfield, Duel in the Sun, and Rebecca.
The film focuses around Scarlett O'Hara, a southern belle who struggles to find love during the chaotic years of the Civil War. She ends up marrying three times, becoming widowed twice and resolving to win back her lover the third time. Scarlett also tries to defend her plantation, Tara, from Yankees and astronomically high taxes.
