"Go Buckets" to help in the event of a school crisis
The Charleroi School District Safety Team is proactively taking steps to keep staff and students safe in the event of an emergency.
Currently we are spearheading a campaign called “Go Bucket.”
From severe weather trapping students inside their school to outside intruders entering the school, the threats and challenges of today’s classrooms are many and are often extreme.
We are collecting five-gallon buckets and donations of items to put in the buckets that students and teachers can use in times of emergency and crisis.
Some of the items we are looking for to help fill the buckets are:
•Small first aid kits (bandages, gauze pads, iodine solution, sterile latex gloves, antiseptic cream, aspirin, Immodium™, Benadryl®, eye pads, burn dressings, antiseptic lotion)
•Hornet/Wasp Spray
•Small bottles of bleach or disinfectant
•A whistle, cigarette lighter, multi tool and hammer
•Flashlight and twenty feet of nylon rope.
Currently we implement a safety program called ALICE. This acronym stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate.
Our school resource officer and security guards are certified, and along with the building principals, they will be instructing teachers on utilizing the Go Bucket to help the students and staff in the event of an emergency. The Go Bucket will include rope to help barricade a door if needed.
Donations can be dropped off at the front reception desk at each school.
The collection will continue until each classroom has a Go Bucket.
It is extremely important that we remain proactive in preparing for the event of any crisis. Parents are encouraged to help join forces by helping to provide the needed supplies. We appreciate your support.

The fish waste provides an organic food source for the plants, and the plants naturally filter the water for the fish.
