Rosewood Roar

Week of December 14, 2015

PARENT BREAKFAST MEETING

We will meet from 7:30am to 8:30am on Tuesday (December 15, 2015) in the Media Center.

Superintendent Dr. Pew will be our special guest. She will be sharing information regarding School of Choice and gathering feedback from parents. The district needs your help to ensure parent perspectives are included in the decision making process.

We will also be discussing our Title 1 plan - providing updates and information for parents as well as finalizing plans for second semester.

We need your input to help make Rosewood EXTRAORDINARY. Please plan to join us if your schedule allows.

Rosewood Gains International Attention

Last week, Rosewood hosted Dr. Michael Donnelly from the University of Bath, located in England. He is part of a research team investigating International Mindedness in schools on behalf of the International Baccalaureate Organization. Rosewood was selected to participate in the study based on recommendations from educators who have visited our school, our presence on social media, academic focus and services we provide for students.

We were humbled to learn that Rosewood is one of only 11 schools worldwide chosen for in depth investigation and inclusion in the study. Other schools are in locations such as Jakarta, Paris, and London. Many of the schools included are exclusive private schools. This is an important milestone in the life of our school. The information learned will help us continue to improve and will also allow us to work with other schools around the world. We will be featured in international publications and at academic conferences around the world. Rosewood is doing GREAT things.

Inclusion in this study means we are making progress toward our vision of becoming the most EXTRAORDINARY public IB school in the country !!

Thank you parents, teachers and students for everything you are doing to help us continue to grow.

Dress Up Days

Did you know that each year the faculty at Rosewood dress up during the final week before break as a way to build staff morale and entertain the kids?

We've had a few requests to share the themes we are using this year so the students can participate as well. This year each day is inspired by a song. The interpretation is up to you, but we've given some suggestions !

Monday : Frosty the Snowman (wear white or snowflakes)

Tuesday: Jingle Bells (we might regret this one !!)

Wednesday: Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer (tacky sweaters)

Thursday: You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch (Whoville, Grinch )

Friday: Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree (artistic interpretation, your choice)

Challenger Concert Reminder

Parents of Challenger (after school program) students are reminded that there is a concert at 4pm on Wednesday. If you are unable to attend, we will be "live streaming" the concert and it will also be archived for viewing.

We are VERY excited to announce that we have secured a SUPER SPECIAL group who RARELY make their talents available to perform at the end of the concert...you will not want to miss this !! (Seriously, even if your child is not in Challenger you may want to tune in or attend ...the Rosewood community may be talking about this for quite some time after this "special appearance" ! )
