Design Time:
Students will work in their assigned teams on coming up with a problem and coming up with a solution on their civic issue.
Each mentors will be assigned a team and will know what civic issue their group has been provided. When the students and mentors are together, the group should discuss what problem was created and brainstorm ways to solve the issue. A design packet will be provided as a guide. It's a basic guide, and mentors should fill in the gaps. Mentors may add in additional resources, if they think those resources would be more useful. Examples of ways to implement awareness of civic issues, but not limited to, are: app, website, social media campaign, media project, or design project.
All groups will present their projects starting 2:00pm in front of a jury of 5 community members. Each group will have 2 minutes to present and 1 minute to answer questions. There will be one group winner per civic issue (violence, mental health, and affordable housing).
