Wilson World Changer
We have the BEST educators at Wilson! The leadership team wants to spotlight some of the great things we see when we go into your classes. Please watch this spotlight of our first Wilson World Changer!
I change the world, one learner at a time. I am a Wilson Ranger Educator.
Veteran's Day Program
Thank you to all of our teams and learners for working so hard to prep for the program.
This is truly a community event. The Rotary will be putting out flags, the Cub Scouts will be presenting the colors, our learners are reciting the poem and doing a reader's theatre and we have about 18 Veterans and their families joining us.
We will be on Spirit Day schedule on Tuesday, so we can practice our program around 2:30ish.
Thank you for helping by providing breakfast for our reception. Bring breakfast to the library at 7:40am.
Just a reminder, here are the breakfast assignments.

Wilson Resources
RAZ Kids and Reading A-Z - use this resource for intervention and progress monitoring in reading. You should all have a log-in. Check with Jennifer or your teams if you need help.
Reflex Math - Great for intervention and progress monitoring in computation. You should have received a log-in via email. You will have to add your students, but it's very quick. Once the learners log-in, they will take an initial needs assessment and then can get started on learning facts.
STEMScopes - You should have received an email from STEMScopes with your log-in and the specific link to use for Wilson. Once you have logged in, you can create your class. The learners are added into the program already, so you just have to add them to your class.
Please let Mary know if you need help with the program.
Reflex Log-ins and Progress
Vigor vs. Rigor from Literacy
Vigor vs Rigor from Renee
Christina and I attended a 2 day literacy conference that was filled with wonderful, purposeful information that we could write pages about, but the one thing that really stood out to the 2 of us is the concept of Vigor vs Rigor. See chart below that describes the difference between these 2 words.
VIGOR
*CHALLENGE
*CUROSITY
*INTEREST
*PERSONAL ENGAGEMENT
RIGOR
*RIGID
*HARSHNESS
*STIFFNESS
*STRICTNESS
As educators I know we all want vigorous classrooms and not rigorous ones. We are here to ignite a sense of wonder and a love for learning not only in the area of reading but all subjects. Vigorous classrooms inspire the learner in spite of the challenge. :)
Behavioral Services from Mr. Jeff Minn
Are you working with learners who have social, emotional or behavioral issues? Are you experiencing stress or dealing with difficult family issues or maybe they are grieving? The District Mental Health Resource List is available with possible supports.
Below is the link to Coppell ISD’s 2015 District Mental Health Resource List. Please use or share with parents in need of additional mental health support options in the community.

Math with Mary Kemper
Elementary Mathematics: Resources from Stop, Collaborate, and Listen as well as Educator Academies can be accessed on the CISD Elementary Math Website: tinyurl.com/cisdelementarymath
Universal Screeners: K-2 will utilize the TEMI-PM for the MOY & EOY screeners. 3rd-5th will utilize a screener developed within CISD for the MOY & EOY. More information about the 3rd-5th screener will be shared in December. 6th-8th will not give a screener for the MOY & EOY due to challenges with MSTAR.
From Deana Harrell
Child Abuse and Sexual Abuse Prevention
New hires are completing the Child Abuse and Sexual Abuse Prevention Training as required by the state through Schoology. Please remind them to send a copy of their certificates to Deana Harrell or Devon Kirk at Admin. If the new hire completed the training last year in their previous district, we just need a copy of his/her certificates.
Project Based Learning
Campuses utilizing the PBL design model as a part of UbD might be interested in a series of Google Hangouts brought to you by the Buck Institute. A recorded version of each Hangout will be available to those that miss them. This might be a opportunity for flex hours for staff members at PBL campuses.
