Location
The Ghana empire was settled in the higher part of the Niger River valley in the middle of the Sahara desert and many tropical forests along the West African coast.
Government
The government of the Ghana empire was very strong. The king, or Ghana, ruled and governed without any laws. His word was the law. They were also very dependent of their army of thousands of men to protect the empire.
Economy
The Ghana kingdom did very well because of the abundance of iron ore and gold that they had. Having all this iron ore and gold, blacksmiths were able to make tools and weapons for trading. Other important exports for trading in the Ghana kingdom included salt, ivory, ostrich feathers, hides, and even slaves.
Collapse of the Kingdom
The Ghana kingdom had flourished for several hundred of years, but was later weakened by wars and fell during the 1100s
