Into The Wild
Jon Krakauer and Sean Penn
Structure
One of the significant differences between the book version and the movie is that In the book the author structures it through his research, personal stories, and interviews that tied it all together while in the movie the story of Alexander Supertramp is told like an actual story.
Influences
In the movie there are references to Alexander's role models but it doesn't explore the extent that they influenced him like the novel did. The novel not only mentioned the people that he looked up to but it included excerpts from their novels so that we could fully grasped where he got his inspiration from.
Influences
Jack London
The Call of the Wild
Henry David Thoreau
Walden

Ending
Unfortunately in both versions the ending was the same. Christopher McCandless died during his great adventure in Alaska. It was in his final days that he realized that happiness was only real when shared.
