RAM is called random access because because it allows information to be stored and accessed from random location within DRAM.
What is DRAM?
Dynamic Random Access Memory also known as DRAM is the most common type of computer memory. It is very useful because it can hold a large amount of data in a physically small amount of space, however it is not great for permanent storage as normally when the power supply is turned off it loses the data.
