The Proud Pirate

Week of March 30, 2020

A Newsletter for the Friends and Families of Furry Elementary! The Perkins Family strives for unsurpassed educational opportunities so every student may achieve their greatest potential.

Thank You!

Hello Families,

As we close out our second week of online learning, I can't help but be amazed at how hard everyone is working to make this "online learning" work for our youngest Perkins Pirates. Please know that we understand how you're still trying to find your "new normal" at home too. We're also aware that some of our families have either recently lost their jobs or their hours have been cut. We understand the extra stress this puts on the adults in our learning community. Be gentle with yourselves and others. If there's anything we can do to help, please let us know. We'll get through this together!

Just a reminder...your child was given their own personal email account. Please take a minute to log into your child's email account as many of our teachers have been sending emails to those accounts. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Hoping you're staying healthy!

District-Wide Spirit Week Next Week!

The seniors at Perkins High have planned a Virtual Spirit Week. Starting next Monday, for each of the days, take a picture of your student(s) in all grades and post them to social media with the hashtag #spiritwkphs

Here’s the schedule:

Move It Monday–Do something physical and fun like taking a walk with your family, riding a bike, jumping rope.
Too Cool for School Tuesday–Be a cool Pirate with your coolest pair of shades
Wacky Paws Wednesday–Show some Pawsitivity today! Take a picture of yourself with your favorite pet or stuffed animal
Tribute Thursday–Take a minute to thank a classmate or a teacher, and send them an e-mail
Flashback Friday- Take a trip down memory lane. Find a picture from one of your earlier years of school

Positive Office Referrals

Our children are going amazing things at home! Take a minute to click the link above and "send them to the office" to celebrate! :)

Grab and Go Lunches Available

Although the four Perkins school buildings are closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the school district will be offering ALL students free lunches. These lunches will be served as "grab-and-go" boxed lunches from a drive-through distribution system at the rear (east side) of Perkins High School. Each box meal will include an entree/sandwich, side dish or snack, and a drink.

They will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The meals will be available for pickup from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or until we run out of them.

Some Tips from Mrs. Kennedy!

Mrs. Kennedy, our friend from Bayshore Counseling and Recovery has provided the tips below to help our children and our families. Although we're away from school, she's still available to check in and be a support for all of us! Feel free to email her with any questions or concerns: ckennedy@perkinsschools.org
