News and Reminders
Spring Recess! Have a safe, fun and restful vacation!
Vacation Hours: The building will be open from 7 until 4 each day, Monday through Friday. It is closed tomorrow and both weekends.
Water Testing: Yesterday afternoon after dismissal, Leader Professional Services, a consultant hired by the District, toured the building and labeled devices in preparation for testing. All devices will be labeled and tested regardless of past results. Please do not remove any labels that may be affixed. Thanks!
Drive Safely: Please be sure to drive slowly in the parking lot and be especially careful as you cross the sidewalks at the exit area between Canandaigua National Bank and Central Office. I am reminding parents in the eNews this week, but we had a close call with a walker yesterday who was on the sidewalk on her way to school.
Faculty Meeting Monday: Change of plans! Kevin and Lou will join us for the budget presentation at our May 2nd meeting, since the budget isn't approved by the BOE until April 12. Our agenda as of now will include NYS testing last minute reminders, Teacher of Record work time (bring your devices), tenth period consistency reminders and student showcase for starters. Anyone who has not attended a test proctor meeting will be asked to stay for 15 minutes after the meeting (probably 3:30 until 3:45).
New York State Middle School Liaisons Meeting in Albany. On Thursday and Friday last week I was in Albany attending our annual spring meeting with about 100 other middle school principals from across the state. The Essential Elements: Schools-to-Watch program was the common theme and we were able to hear from our new Commissioner of Education, MaryEllen Elia. Her message was rather refreshing and it was very apparent that the testing and teacher evaluation pendulum is swinging in the right direction! As always, it was an honor to represent our school!
Security Guard Starting the Monday after Break. John McCabe has been a big help as we get ready to welcome a Mike Spezzano, a current BHS security person, to our building from 7 until 3 each day. Welcome Mike!
Secretary to Start April 11: Yvonne Hoffman will be joining our outstanding clerical staff the week after vacation. I want to thank Terese White for all of her work as a substitute during the transition and helping Yvonne on her first day!
