Senior and Middle School commemorated Remembrance Day at a touching assembly the morning of November 11. Two Canadian Forces’ veterans came to speak to the students about what Remembrance Day means to them. During the assembly, the students were fortunate to witness Major General (Ret’d) Denis Thompson honour Captain (Ret’d) Ryan Carey with the Medal of Sacrifice for his service in Afghanistan 15 years ago. He spoke to the students about his own sacrifice and the realities of war, reminding them that mental resilience was important on and off the battlefield because we all have our own challenges to face. Donations Desperately Needed For Next Gryphon Sale Scheduled for January 11: Thank you to all those who have dropped off gently-used uniform items over the fall. Our sales inventory is at the lowest it has been in years, enough so that we may not be able to have the January sale. If you have any items that you were planning on donating, please drop them off at the school in the next few weeks. The donation bins are located right inside the front doors of the school. Thank you again for your generosity.

24 Hours for the Homeless: The 24 hours for the Homeless awareness campaign is back. Wednesday afternoon, November 23 to Thursday, November 24, Mr. Grier, Ms. Segal, and a clan of courageous, caring and empathic students from Selwyn House School will be participating in the seventh 24 Hours for the Homeless event. This is an eye-opening, challenging and life-changing experience. By participating, your son will acquire a small taste of what some people and youth, just about the same age of our students, live on a daily basis. Our hope is that they take this opportunity to be reminded of the hardships of others and that the students will forever be aware and sensitive to some people who are simply not as lucky as us. As Jesse Caruso (Old Boy 2017) says, "Put yourself in their shoes, they are not much different." If your son is interested in participating, please email Ms. Segal by November 21.
Community Engagement: Looking for volunteering opportunities? Click here to see how you can make a difference!

Covid Protocol Updates: Quebec public health officials announced the removal of isolation periods from their Covid-19 protocols. The latest recommendations to limit the spread of respiratory infectious diseases can be found here.
If you have a fever or don't feel well, stay at home.
If you have any symptoms of respiratory infectious diseases, wear a mask until symptoms are gone. For your reference, Covid symptoms and tiers remain unchanged and can be found here.
At Selwyn House, we will continue to encourage good hand hygiene and supply masks for staff and students upon request.
The government will be providing rapid test kits in the month of November, which will be promptly distributed to students.
We ask our families to continue to communicate positive Covid test results with the school and to support mask-wearing when any symptoms are present in order to help us to best take care of our community.
