No More Tyranny!

Separation of Powers
They couldn't give all the power to one person, again. They decided to split the powers between three branches, legislative, executive, and judicial. The legislative branch makes the laws, Executive branch enforces the laws, and the Judicial interprets the laws. This way every branch has there own part and say, so they can't over rule each other. This helps guard tyranny because it prevents one person or group from doing whatever they want.
Federalism
Federalism prevents the national government and the state government from gaining absolute power over the nation and the nations people. The state government have more power over local and personal issues (education, marriage, ect.) because they will be more in touch with local culture. This way each state will have different laws and some of the same laws but that will all follow the constitution. The national and state government will check each other's powers and the branches of government within each level will also provide checks on each other. To always guarantee a safe environment, for the workers and for the people. Federalism prevents the national government and the state government from gaining absolute power over the nation and the nations people.
Large States VS Small States
The larger states obviously had a bigger population than the smaller states, and that caused a lot of tension between them two. The larger states wanted more representation because they were bigger and the smaller states wanted equal representation because they were smaller. They couldn't agree how to solve this problem. Thats when they created to houses, the House of Representatives and the Senate. The House of Representatives were based on population, and each shall have at least 1 representative. The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two senators from each state, chosen by the legislators thereof for 6 years; and each senator shall have 1 vote. This helped guard tyranny because the big states wouldn't be able to bully the small states and the small states would be heard.
Checks and Balances
Checks and Balances allow a government that is safe and in control. Checks and balances allows each branch have a responsibility for themselves and for each other. Their responsibility for themselves is not to go crazy. Their responsibility for each other is to keep in control, if one branch or person is going crazy, they can do something about it. The legislative branch can impeach the president, impeach judges, and remove them from office. The executive branch can veto congressional legislation, and nominate judges. The judicial branch can declare the presidential acts unconstitutional, and can declare laws unconstitutional. This guards tyranny because checks and balances allow a branch of government to limit the powers of the other two branches.
