Wildcat Strong!!!!!
Now is the time to build relationships with each of your students! But how?
1. Start with having a positive attitude all of the time! Hard, yes I know, but we are able to file away other things in our lives within our brain and "show positivity" for our students!
2. Always treat the students with respect! Even when they are frustrating you, you are the adult, take a step back, takes some deep breaths and respond with respect! Showing respect goes a long way with students!
3. Show an interest in their lives outside of school. Ask them what they did over the weekend, what is their favorite hobby? Are they a sports fan or love to draw or sing? Ask questions and build that bond by continuing to show you enjoy hearing about the things they love!
4. Teach with enthusiasm and passion! You know the saying, teachers are actresses and actors! If you show your interest and excitement about the lesson, they will reciprocate!
5. MAKE LEARNING FUN!!!! East noble provides so much technology opportunities and is a major advocate for Maker Space and Project Based Learning! Take advantage and utilize these great opportunities!
6. Incorporate humor into your lessons! Students love to laugh and enjoy time with their teacher! This helps to make learning fun!
7. Incorporate storytelling into your lessons! Students love to learn about their teacher and their teacher's life! Use stories from your life in your teaching, this makes you "real" to your students!
8. Use the students interests to your advantage! How can you incorporate their interests into your lessons and their learning? This will keep them engaged and involved!
9. Provide Structure. Students love structure, it helps them be successful! Post your daily schedule for them to see!
10. Go the extra mile!!!! This shows that you "CARE" about them! They need to know this!
All of this will pay off! Students will respond in many ways including becoming more engaged in their learning, wanting to please you, and going the extra mile themselves within the school setting!
