A Note From Principal Miller
Dear CE Families,
Now with State Testing behind us, May offers many opportunities for our school community to come together and celebrate: PTO Book Fair, Grandparents Days, Star Wars Carnival for our boys, STEM EXPO, School Budget Vote and our CA Relay for Life, a district wide community service event on May 31st.
In the classroom, we will celebrate fact fluency gains, sight word recognition and/or reading accuracy, Writing Unit (4) of Study, to name a few. Also, students have been working hard on their Pathways Project. Here, students explore an area of concern, find evidence about their topic, and learn different points of view to create their own opinions about the world around them. Through project based learning, students learn research skills, hone writing skills, explore multimedia resources, and enhance communication skills as they learn through discovery. Be on the lookout for information about your child’s pathways project and other celebrations of learning.

Trex Plastic collection…..a success!
Thanks a ton, and I mean A TON for all of your help collecting plastic bags and wrappings! The results are in!! Competition was stiff!! We placed fourth with 2,024 lbs! A TON...which is awesome! Many thanks for all of your help in making this a successful collection. We had some tough competition from several eastern states who really stepped it up this year. Keep collecting....and I will keep weighing! Even with NY passing the single-use plastic bag ban which will be in effect by next March 2020, we still have plenty of other things we can also collect. (See below). CE has a great group of responsible recyclers!!!
Give yourselves a big high five! See what happens when we all work together to make a better, cleaner earth? Keep up the great work! Coxsackie Elementary will continue to collect plastic bags and wrappings. So please keep them coming in!!
