Message from Dr. Epperson

We have enjoyed being back with our students this week! We anticipate a successful semester filled with with learning and lots of fun. Keep reading for updates and events coming up at CMS.


We always get to welcome new families in January as a new semester begins. If you are new to CMS, we look forward to working with your family. You will find key contacts at the bottom of this newsletter. You are encouraged to review this newsletter each week to stay up to date on news and events. We are also social media and post updates and reminder regularly.


Quarter 2 report cards will be available in HAC by the end of business today.

MISD Covid Testing

McKinney ISD has partnered with GeneIQ to provide COVID testing for MISD staff, students, and families of MISD staff and students. Gene IQ is an approved vaccinator in the state of Texas and provides vaccination services in accordance of state and CDC guidelines, and

GeneIQ is also a molecular diagnostics laboratory that provides PCR COVID-19 testing and collection of these. Testing will be available Monday thru Thursday beginning October 25th from 10:00 AM to 7:00PM. This is subject to change dependent on the number of people using the service. Testing is by appointment only. Testing will be on the North Side of the stadium parking lot outside of the building.

Second Semester Tutoring

In order to serve all students most effectively, we will modify our Tuesday/Thursday tutoring beginning in January. It is time for teachers to begin skills-based tutoring that will occur by invitation only. Teachers will use first semester classroom and assessment data to plan targeted tutoring groups. Students will stay for tutoring only on days they are invited by the teacher. Some students will attend regularly and others will be invited for particular sessions. Teachers will be in communication with parents and students when these schedules are developed. Students will need to have a tutoring pass from the teacher to stay for tutoring or access the tutoring bus in the afternoons. Tutoring sessions will continue to be scheduled for summative retake opportunities as necessary. Teachers will have a plan in place to coordinate their invitations so kids aren’t double-booked for an afternoon. If students aren’t on the tutoring list for the day, they will need to leave campus at 3:52 p.m. when school is dismissed.

No Third Party Lunch Deliveries

We are happy to welcome parent lunch deliveries. We can not accept third party deliveries. Please do not use delivery services to have lunch delivered. Also, please make sure your student knows that they can't order lunch for delivery while at school. Thank you!!

Laptop Fees

Need to pay your laptop fee online? Follow these steps:

Log in to HAC

Click on Home tab

Click on School Links tab

Click on first link (Pay HAC Fees Online)

You will need to create an account to pay the fee

You will be asked for your student’s ID number (without the “S”).


We can also take cash or check payments in the front office.

Carpool students exit front of building

All carpool students must exit through the front of the building. We can't have pedestrian traffic crossing the bus lane in the back of the school. There is no carpool line behind the school and there should never be pedestrian traffic crossing the bus lane. Students exiting our back doors or crossing bus traffic will be redirected to the front of the building.

Students who live in the neighborhood behind the school and need to cross are being identified and given instructions to get home safely.

Want to Substitute Teach?

We have open substitute teaching positions. We are currently looking for a "permanent substitute". This individual works at CMS every day in the capacity needed for that day. Contact the CMS substitute coordinator, Sandra Carter, at sacarter@mckinneyisd.net or 469-302-7918 for details.



McKinney ISD is hiring substitute teachers for the 2021-2022 school year. Every year we replenish our pool of subs who received full-time positions, moved away or retired. The pay range for a substitute in McKinney ISD is $90 - $110 a day.

Dress Code

Please refer to the Student Dress Code for detailed information. Here are a few

basic reminders for you as you begin your back-to-school shopping. Dress code will be checked each day by the end of 2nd period.


  • No pajamas
  • Leggings or spandex must be worn with a shirt or tunic that covers the entire front and back sides.
  • Students may not wear hoodies up. Hoods must be down during the day. Leave them at home if this is too difficult to manage.
  • Shorts must be fingertip length.
  • Holes in jeans must be located below fingertip length
  • No spaghetti straps and any tank top straps must be 3 finger width
  • No see-through clothing
  • No sagging pants or undergarments showing
  • Midsections may not be visible. (no crop tops)
  • Earrings and nose studs are permissible; All other visible body-piercing jewelry or ornaments are not permitted unless the piercing is for cultural or religious reasons.
