Plickers: Classroom Clickers without Clicking
We started out the day with a little tech talk. Becky Whitaker showed us how to use Plickers. We were all given a piece of paper with a strange looking symbol on it. We found out that when the Plickers app on an iPad viewed the symbol, it revealed the number assigned to us and either an A, B, C, or D, depending on the way we held up the paper. It's a great way to test an entire classroom of students. Go to plickers.com to read more about it. It's a lot of fun.
A Little Advice
After we learned about plicker, we had a chance to discuss the homework from the night before. Mary gave us some good advice. "Make sure you are reading all of the directions."
We also had a chance to discuss the UDL assignment. There is a difference between modifications and accommodations. A modifications changes the curriculum and accommodations are the changes made to how a student learns.
Meeting with MAET Year 2
We were a little late getting there be we had a chance to meet the people in the MAET Year 2 class. We listened to their ideas for making videos.
Group 1
What are some of the misconceptions about the cloud?
Group 2
What are some of the misconceptions about condensation?
Group 3
What are some of the misconceptions about caffeine?
Our Turn
We also had a chance to pitch our ideas for the Maker Faire. They had a fresh insight and gave us some valuable information.
Lunch Time
We had a little time to work but then it was time for lunch. We made the long trek over to Brody Hall to eat in the largest non-military cafeteria in the world. We also had a chance to take a picture with Sparty. The food was terrific. The ice cream was yummy.
Piktochart: Easy-To-Use Infographic Creator
Chelsea Edward demonstrated how easy it is to create an infographic using Piktochart. She showed us one that she created. The available images are high quality and creating professional posters is very easy. The only drawback is the inability to save the results as an image. She suggested that you take a screenshot using the Print Screen key on your computer. I would also suggest that you use the Snipping Tool that comes with Windows.
Quick Fire Activity
Copyright, Fair Use and Public Domain laws can be tricky. Learn more by checking out the video below.

Creative Commons
Another way to protect your creative work is by using a Creative Commons License. The licenses allow the creator to choose the level of protection they want and provides an easy to use symbol to represent it. To help you choose a level of protection and build the symbol that it represents, go to http://creativecommons.org/choose/. Everyone had a chance to choose their license and add it to their blog.
Ketchup Time
Until the end of the day, we had a chance to get caught up.
