Rescore for ISTEP+
Scores are back! Your child was SOOOOOO close!!
Your child's score was so close that asking the state to rescore may help achieve a "Pass"
As I am sure you know, our ISTEP+ student scores are back and have been sent to your homes. Included in this mailing were the instructions for how to request a rescore for your child should you like to do so.
You are receiving this notice because your child scored close to the cut score to pass one or more test. Rescoring could be the difference between "Do Not Pass" and "Pass." We know that your child is more than a score or number, and that this label is only a label for a test. We, at West Terrace, only use the performance to support your child in learning and growing. However, the school's letter grade status is improved with passing scores and improved growth scores.
Requesting a rescore will not decrease your child's score. Your child will have to do nothing, the state looks at the current answers and rescores that to see if an increase can be given. You (or the school on your behalf if you request it) simply log in to Pearson and request a rescore.
We are able to assist you if you request that of us--completing the form below is the best way to do so. There is only a 12 day window to request rescores, so requesting support as promptly as possible will ensure that we can submit the request in time. The rescore window ends June 22.
When you log in to Pearson (instructions attached), you will be able to access the open-ended items from the test, allowing you to see if you feel a question should be reassessed. We have had some students in the past whose scores improved as a result of this process.
Should you have any questions, you can reach out to Mrs. White, or to the Office of Performance, Assessment, and Research. Call 812-435-8615.
Thanks so much for helping us support your child!
