FBMS - Staying Connect and Engaged March 16, 2020
A Message from Mrs. Kemmett
While I understand that many of you have increased levels of anxiety (I do, too!), I need you to know that your safety and well-being is very important to me, my team, and the staff of FBMS.
First and foremost...PAUSE... take some time to slow down and check in on those people that are important to you...family, friends, colleagues, students, teachers, elderly neighbors.
Second, don't worry about homework and classwork at this moment...like you, I am asking our teachers to hit the SLO-MO button. While classwork and instruction are important, so isn't your and our teachers'...and mostly our students'...wellness!
Third, teachers, staff, and the FBMS Leadership Team will be virtually checking in on students/staff and their families via newsletters, emails, and on CANVAS. We want to know how you all are doing, and we want to stay connected with the entire FBMS community! So play along with our Virtual Spirit Week, watch a suggested YouTube art lesson, listen to one of Mrs. DeLuca's favorite podcasts, encourage members of your family to answer one of our Google Forms, or join us (or play back) in a Google Hangout. These are open for students, families and staff! These are uncharted territories for all of us...but I often encourage my staff and students to take risks, try something new, go out of their comfort zone...therefore, I will be doing my best to model my words and try some new methods of connecting with the FBMS and Marshfield community over the coming weeks. Bear with me...this is all new to me, too! I will make mistakes...but we can all laugh and maybe even to get to know each other better! Let's make lemonade from lemons and create rainbows from the storm clouds!
Remember FBMS our theme for the year (which could NOT be more appropriate) we are #FBMS-StrongerTogether!

Who are the 'winners' ? - PETS!
Rosie is a rescue who was found by volunteers in Alabama in September 2017...right around when I became principal of FBMS. She was barely alive and badly injured from bb pellets. While she didn't lose her sight, her right eye is completely blind as a result of that trauma. We adopted her that November, and we instantly fell in love! At first she was timid and afraid, but in no time she adjusted to her home and new family. Rosie loves to take walks and play with toys - the louder the squeaker...the better! She loves to lay in the sun, take car rides (except to the vet), eat treats and play!
My daughter Leigha sent me the best tweet about dogs today: by Hannah Brooks Olsen (@mshannahbrooks): The real winner of this pandemic are the nation's dogs, who are experiencing unprecedented levels of People Being Home.
Made me wonder and want to ask all of you about your pets.
Here is a link to a Google Form asking about you and your pets...would love to learn more about you and your pets: https://forms.gle/VFPHFwHwnp7me75Y6 Remember...only school appropriate writing and pictures, and please obtain permission from your parents to share pictures with me!
Got Art?
Artist and Author Jarrett J. Krosoczka will have hosting an art class/lesson every weekday at 2 PM...for free! This is for all ages and can be played back later if the time doesn't work! This is for all ages and he has PETS...who may make appearances. Check it out!

Tomorrow will be our first art class. 2 pm ET at youtube.com/StudioJJK. You won’t need anything fancy. Some paper, a pencil. Maybe a marker. As we go along—and I plan to keep this going as long as we need—I may work in color lessons. (Color pencils, watercolor.) And definitely incorporating writing lessons. And will read aloud some too. I’ll also offer art games that grown-ups and kids could play together. And remember—you can rewatch later so you can replay and pause as much as you’d like!
