Reflection on 20% Time Project

Around 6.5 million animals have been put into animal shelters, and out of those 6.5 million animals, around 1.5 million are euthanized per year. Although saving over a million animals is not nearly possible, saving a few can be. Adopting is one of the best ways to try and save animals in shelters. If not able to adopt, making sure those animals get the best care they can, makes the animals feel a lot more comfortable. There are many ways to help animals in shelters, including the following: raising money for shelters in need of necessities, volunteering at shelters, as well as spreading the word. Throughout this project, failure was common. For example, finding ways to help the animals in shelters was hard to find. However, with a little research and communication, there are many ways people can help animals in need of care, which some are listed above. Taking a stand for helping animal shelters means that animals do not suffer and live a happy and healthy life.

While I was researching ways to help animal shelters, I found that simply just posting information about how to help animal shelters helps. After I saw this, I decided to make an Instagram account. As I was making the Instagram, I began to think about what to post, which was the most difficult thing about creating a product. I had many things I needed to think about. For example, what to post, how to make people interested, and so much more. More and more people have been following my account, allowing for my information to spread to even more people.

As I was researching ways to help animal shelters, I found that animal shelters are in need of donations. The Humane Society of Summit County located in Hudson, Ohio, is in need of donations. While I was on their website, I found that 90% of their funding is donated by private community members in Hudson. The Humane Society of Summit County is not financially supported or affiliated with national organizations, such as HSUS or ASPCA. So, I decided to look further into donating to the shelter and contacted them. I have not yet received a response from the shelter, but once I am informed in what necessities they are in need of, I will donate to them
