Getting to know your body is life changing!
Muscular system
The muscular system is responsible for the movement of the human body. There are about 700 muscles that are attached to the bones of our body.
How skeletal muscle contracts
Skeletal muscles contracts by The myosin filaments having heads (they form cross-bridges when they're attached to biding sets on acting filaments). Then, the ATP binds the myosin heads and causes them to break the cross-bridges by detaching from the binding sites. Finally, the ATP is broken down to ADP and phosphate , causing the myosin heads to change angle.
Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI)
Repetitive strain injury (SRI) is pain left in muscles, nerves, and tendons caused by repetitive movement and overuse. The condition mostly affects parts of the upper body (forearm, elbow, wrist, hands etc.). Cold temps or stress can cause RSI. Some symptoms that can occur are pain/tenderness, stiffness, tingling/numbness, or cramps. RSI is treated by painkillers such as aspirin or ibuprofen.
Muscular Dystrophy
Muscular dystrophy is a sex-linked genetic disorder of the muscles that causes muscles to weaken slowly due to lack of the protein which hold the skeletal muscle cells together. So symptoms are waddling when walking, difficulty climbing stairs, trouble standing up or sitting down, and repeated falling. Therapy or medications can treat muscular dystrophy, but there is no cure for it.
