Message from the Principal...

Hello Lions,

As the Holiday season approaches, there will likely be many opportunities for students to gather outside of school with friends and loved ones. During this time, please express to your child the importance of taking precautions to slow the spread of COVID-19 by wearing masks, frequently washing hands, and social distancing. We all must work together as partners to balance the need for social interaction and celebration with keeping our schools open to in-person learning. Our partnership is critical in order to keep students and staff safe and in school throughout the holiday season. Should your child test positive for COVID-19 over the Thanksgiving Break, we ask that you email us at contactwilkinson@conroeisd.net so we can provide the appropriate support and make the required notifications.

At this time, with all the safety measures put in place we have been very successful. We have only had one case connected with our campus. Thank you to our families, who screen their kids each day and also provide masks for continued wear.

Thanks for entrusting us with your most precious gift,

Mrs. Stewart

News from our Assistant Principal...

It is amazing that we have almost completed the first half of the year. The teachers have many wonderful lessons planned for December. It is important your child attend school every day and on time. Why is attendance important? Chronic absenteeism puts a child at risk of reading up to 2 grade levels below their peers in elementary school. When a student misses one day of school, they miss at least 6 subjects a day. If a student missed five days of school (consecutive or not), they missed at least 30 subjects. It is easy to see how those students fall behind and tend to feel stressed at school. 21%-25% of students who develop patterns of chronic absenteeism in elementary school, drop out of school between 9th-12th grades. We do not want any of our students to fall into that statistic.

Changing Instructional Platforms

The 3rd grading period begins on January 6, 2021. Parents wishing to change their child’s instructional option (Remote/Online to In-Person or In-Person to Remote/Online) for the 3rd Grading Period should contact their campus registrar no later than Tuesday, December 1st, by 8 AM. This will allow the campus time to make needed schedule changes. If there has been no contact from a parent/guardian, no changes will be made to the student’s instructional method.

GT Nomination Information

Referral Requests for Gifted and Talented Testing

Referral requests are now open for Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented program. Although the testing will not take place until late January for both remote and in-person platforms, referral requests are accepted at this time. Referral requests can be made by the parents and/or teachers. It is recommended that parents of 2nd grade students wait until CogAT scores have arrived before nominating their child because CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment. If you are interested in referring your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher at conferences. Referrals will be accepted through December 18. You may request a referral form from the front office or the Assistant Principal. You can also find the referral form and other GT information on the CISD GT homepage.

Eat Breakfast at School!

Breakfast is served at school! School breakfast will give your child a healthy start to the day. A nutritious breakfast helps students be more alert so they can learn more in class. Breakfast has vitamins and nutrients for a strong and healthy body.

Breakfast at school is free for this school year.

Help your child start the day right with school breakfast! Make sure they arrive before 7:45 to have enough time to eat.

Jackets, lunch kits, & Water bottles

Please make sure you write your child's name in their jackets, lunch kits, and water bottles. This will help get it back to the child when found around campus.

Dreambox Reminders

All Lions have access to Dreambox through their SSO and are already logging in during math time in their classroom. This program is a great way to reinforce math skills at home and help build mathematicians through individualized lessons. Students should aim to be on Dreambox 20 to 30 minutes a day and should ideally complete 5-7 lessons per week.

Reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions.

Where are my child's grades, progress reports and report cards....

Parent Access Center is a free program available to all CISD parent/guardians that allows viewing of helpful information regarding student attendance, report cards, progress reports, daily grades, state test results, Students Achieving Excellence (SAE), discipline and available lunch money.
