The Lucas Letter
Dear Hanna Woods Families,
One of the long-standing school traditions is the annual yearbook, students filled with excitement to receive their copy and play a personal game of "Where's Waldo" as they look for themselves and their friends throughout the yearbook. Whatever your plans over the next two weeks, Melissa and I wish you peace, joy, and the love and comfort of family and friends! This year, our yearbook committee is working hard to ensure the yearbook is produced despite our reality due to COVID-19; however, we need your help. Please submit pictures of your child engaging in learning or doing activities at home:
Halloween, playing in leaves, snowmen, etc. Please send your pictures to hannawoodsyearbook@gmail.com.
Tomorrow and Tuesday are distance learning days, and Wednesday begins our Winter Break. While we want our students to relax and enjoy their breaks, we encourage you to ensure they continue reading daily. If your child's teacher has not shared a reading challenge with him or her, I invite you to use the one I have included below or feel free to complete both.
Whatever your plans over the next two weeks, Melissa and I wish you peace, joy, and the love and comfort of family and friends!
In partnership,
Cartelia Lucas

Tiger Pride Shout Outs!
Shout out to Dylan, who is attending 4th-grade virtually with Mrs. Schneiderman, a Green Trails teacher. Even though Dylan could not get into the virtual 4th-grade class at his home school at Hanna Woods, he has adapted so well being a part of two schools. He always has a positive attitude, logs in on time, and is helpful to all with his tech-savvy skills. Even though he didn't know many of the kids in this class and misses his friends at Hanna, he has made some new friends and is learning a lot. Dylan works hard and loves music class where he plays the bass! We are so proud of him!
Shout out to Ashtynn, in Mrs. Lui’s class, who comes to school ready to focus every day! She works hard, stays on task, and puts forth her best effort, no matter the circumstances. She always has a smile on her face, and shows patience and kindness to those around her. Keep up the good work, Ashtynn!
Shout out to Fouad in Mrs. Birkenholz’s class for demonstrating integrity and remaining quiet during class.
