Principal's Message
Today we finished up Red Ribbon spirit week and it was great to see so many of our students in costume! Today was also the end of Quarter #1 and 8th grade exploratory students will move to their next class in rotation starting Monday. Students who are not sure where to go on Monday should check the sheets posted on the main offie windows.
We are looking forward to the kickoff of our annual school fundraiser, Raise Craze, on Monday. More information was emailed last night and is included later in the newsletter. Please help us reach our fundraising goal by November 22! Picture retake day and our home opener for Boys' basketball and cheerleading are next Thursday.
- Main Office - We are currently only allowing essential workers to enter the building. If you have a question, please call the O'Neill office M-F between 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM at 630-719-5815. If you feel there is an urgency to communicate in person - our secretaries will ask that you stay outdoors while they work to help you.
We hope that everyone has a safe and enjoyable Halloween Weekend!

Raise Craze!
Welcome to our Raise Craze fundraiser!
This is a unique way for us to raise money for our building while making an impact in our community. During this fundraiser, students ask friends and family for donations via the online Raise Craze platform while paying it forward serving others. What a great way for us to teach our students the importance of kindness and gratitude while raising much needed funds. Students will spend time serving, not selling!
At A Glance:
Dates: November 1 - November 22
Our Goal: $8,000 AND 1 Act of Kindness per student
Building-Wide Service Projects: DuPage Senior Citizen’s Council and The Backpack Project
Every student can participate in Raise Craze by completing Acts of Kindness (AOK) so we’re aiming for 100% participation. As a little encouragement, teachers will be handing out daily “Kindness Stickers” when they see students being kind so please talk to your student about ways he or she might show kindness at school, at home, or in the community!
The incentives students could earn during our Raise Craze Fundraiser are detailed in the image attached to this message.
All students will be walked through the registration process during homebase on Monday, November 1st. However, students in 7th grade MUST have a parent or guardian complete step 1 of registration at home! Please find the directions on the attached handout and make sure to use the student’s District 58 email account.
It would be very helpful if you could send an email to your child’s school email account tonight with email addresses of family, neighbors, and friends so they can simply cut and paste those during set-up. Don’t forget to include your own parent/guardian email!
After set-up, each child will have a dashboard and a website to personally track donations and Acts of Kindness.
You may enter additional emails at any time during the Raise Craze!
There will be a link to your child’s website that you should share freely through social media or emails you may choose to send through your personal account.
We want to SEE the impact your child is having! Submit photos of their Acts of Kindness to omsraisecraze@dg58.org to earn incentives and spread the excitement.
Join the O’Neill Middle School Families Facebook page for all the information about the Service Projects as well as frequent updates about our progress. We are excited to see all of the ways our students choose to serve others and pay it forward!

Join the OMS PTA
We invite you to join the OMS PTA for the 2021-22 school year. In the past, the OMS PTA has organized VIP Day, the Color Run, Teacher Appreciation meals, funded 7th and 8th grade student field trips, teacher grants, and donated classroom equipment. As a member of the PTA, you have a say in helping us shape PTA programs and determine where PTA funds are allocated. We need your support!
PTA Membership is $10/family for the year. Scan QR code or go to website to join. https://omspta.memberhub.store/
Important Parent Reminders
Fall PE: With the weather turning cooler, we encourage students to bring warmer clothes for PE class. The PE classes will continue going outside for lessons as long as possible. Students are encouraged to have long pants and a jacket or hoodie to wear for PE. Students with morning PE may want an extra pair of shoes or socks.
Morning Announcements: Did you know you can read our daily announcements? The announcements read to students each morning are also available on the OMS website so families can also stay informed. Click here to see a sample
Face Coverings: Students and staff are required to wear approved face coverings while at school. The district will be providing disposable face coverings for students who forget to bring one. Students will be able to remove their masks when outside the building for PE. Classes will take outdoor mask breaks as needed and we highly recommend having several face coverings for students to rotate especially during warm weather.
Activity bus: The activity bus for OMS will begin this week. Students that stay after school for clubs, sports, extra help, or detentions can take the activity bus home at 4:00 PM.
PTA SPIRIT WEAR
Spirit Wear is now available to order and it makes a great Christmas gift! You can place your order at gymazingfinds.com/oneill. Email Jen Galvan jgalvanpics@gmail.com with any questions.
