Principal's Message
Dear Parents& Guardians,
It is a busy month at Alcova. We are looking forward to the PTA dance on February 12th. Be sure to see the PTA flyer included in this newsletter with all of the information you need. A little break is coming our way with the student and staff holidays scheduled for February 17th through February 21st. Also, check out the informational flyer below for the Papa Johns Black History Trivia Night February 16th. Sounds like a fun night of trivia with a portion of the proceeds coming to Alcova. Be sure to get your Gladiator tickets for February 20th to support our Chorus as they perform the National Anthem. It is a wonderful night for our Alcova singers and families. Stay tuned for information coming soon for parent and teacher conferences in March.
I hope you have a very happy Valentines Day! We love our students and parents at Alcova.
Your Principal,
Cortina Harris

Lunch Menu For the Spring Semester
Are you staying in town during our upcoming Winter Break? Maybe you're wanting to get out with your family for an exciting afternoon of hockey fun? What if I told you that you can do BOTH of these, AND come out to support our Alcova Community?
On Sunday, February 20th, the Alcova Singers have been given the honor of performing our National Anthem before the Atlanta Gladiators take on the Greenville Swamp Rabbits at 3:00 PM. We've reserved a section just for us, and we've got to get our families and students out to support our hard-working Alcova Singers.
Below you will find a link and flyer that provides more information regarding purchasing tickets and our discounted group rate. Not only do you get the tickets at a cheaper cost, but a portion of the proceeds will come back to support our music program at Alcova. Send out that flyer to your friends, family members, neighbors, and everybody else who would love to support our Singers.
If there are any questions regarding purchasing tickets or anything else, feel free to send me an email at daniel.holder@gcpsk12.org. I hope to see you and your students at our game on February 20th!
Thank you,
Mr. Holder

Devices Will Be Sent Home Daily Beginning 1/7/22
Beginning Friday, January 7th, Alcova students who need a school-issued Chromebook for home use will take their Chromebook home each afternoon. The students will return it to school the next morning for use at school. This is like having a textbook or other learning material that a student brings back and forth to school each day. If your student does not need a device to use at home, they will not be bringing one home.
The goal of this instructional practice is to make sure all our students have a Chromebook at home or school when they need it for completing homework, working on school projects, completing assigned online readings, or accessing Zoom meetings with teachers (such as on synchronous Digital Learning Days).
This plan is part of a new county practice for all schools as we begin the second semester so that students will have equitable access to a device for studies and daily homework if needed. We believe it is important that all our students have access to a computer to support learning at school or at home.
If you have not read and signed the device agreement, please do so by clicking the blue Device Agreement Button below. Please complete and send the form to your student's teacher.
