Dance Marathon Recap

We'd like to take time time to thank all the students and parents for all their help making this year's Dance Marathon another success. From the looks of it the students had a great time while helping a great cause. Mr. Brian Jeffords and retired Franklin teacher, Nancy Cole, put a lot of time and work into making this event what it was. A big thank you to them. We also want to thank the nearly 20 students who came from the University of Iowa to help pump up our students and lead and facilitate the dancing that happened. After it was all said and done the Franklin students raised over $5,000 that will be donated to the University of Iowa Children's Hospital.

Art Projects

Paint-a-Plow

On Monday Ms. Carr and a group of students painted a plow blade. Be on the lookout during the winter months for the one designed by Franklin students. The Paint a Plow program allows children the opportunity to see a snow plow up close, paint the inside of the blade, and gain a deeper appreciation and understanding of snow removal operations. The painted blades are then used on snow routes near the school or daycare which decorated the blade, giving children the chance to catch their artwork in action as crews keep Cedar Rapids’ streets clear of snow.

Arts Alive Showcase

Pieces of Franklin artwork are on scene at the ELSC throughout the month. The unveiling occurred last Saturday from 9:30-12:00. These provide exemplary examples of work from Art Club. Great work by the students!

Fall Fine Arts' Concerts

Thank you to all the parents who attended Thursday evening's fine arts concerts. This was our first concert of the year and we appreciated all of those that came to support their child and the arts. Our students and directors worked extremely hard to get ready for their performance. Thanks to all our directors: Ms. Davies, Ms. Fitzgerald, Ms. Shanley, and Ms. Stern. Our next concert is scheduled for Monday, February 23.
