Paws for PRIDE . . .

Big image

Congratulations to last week’s winners of our "Paws for Pride" drawing - Logan Hinds, Kylie Hughes, Scott Lavin, Srikar Yelamarthy, Lauren Schilling, Lexi Scavillo & Blake Bernstein

These students were chosen at random to be recognized and celebrated for demonstrating one of our five character traits - Pride, Respect, Individual Responsibility, Determination & Empathy.

Elementary Report Card Revisions . . .

As we work to finalize our new reporting system, we want to continue to offer resources to help facilitate the transition to the “new” report card, and explain the rationale and some insight to the work that has been done thus far.

With that being said, we invite you to attend one of our three cluster meetings. District clusters include all elementary schools affiliated with each high school attendance area. In each one-hour meeting, we will define the goals of a standards-based reporting system by highlighting the characteristics that enhance our educational programming for elementary school children. Mark your calendar for Monday, April 28th at 7:00 PM. Central Bucks staff will make a presentation to “Future CB South” parents at Titus Elementary School. For more information and to RSVP please click here.

Additional resources recently released:

Simple Machines . . .

Second Grade Pen students are learning about Simple Machines. Mr. Riley was able to borrow a Genie Lift pulley from the district. Thanks to the pulley, Mr. Riley was able to use just his finger to raise all 4 students off of the ground. Then each student took a turn lifting Mrs. Walls all the way to the ceiling. Pen students are having so much fun learning about how machines make work easier!

Reading Olympics . . .

Over the course of the last few months, participating fifth and sixth grade students have collaborated to read 45 books in preparation for the Reading Olympics competition. Students have met with their teams to select and review these texts, often giving up a portion of their recess. They have been excited about setting a reading goal and REACHING it! Our teams will compete against other neighboring schools on Tuesday, April 8, at Mill Creek Elementary. Please join us in wishing the four Titus teams good luck!

Representing Titus . . .

With the assistance and generosity of 20 fourth grade boys and two third grade boys, Brady and Connor Lockwood demonstrated respect, caring, and empathy for their 10th birthday. Brady and Connor asked their parents if they could forgo birthday presents from their friends this year so that their birthday party guests could buy pet food, pet toys, and Petsmart gift cards to support the Bucks County SPCA. Upon delivering their "gifts" to this worthy charity, Brady and Connor were presented with Hero Certificates, as shown in the photo. They also both received Paws for Pride recognition from their teachers.

Book Dedications . . .

Why dedicate a book to the Titus Library?

  • To celebrate a birthday
  • To honor a family member or friend

  • To say “thank you” to a teacher

  • To remember someone special

For your donation of $20, we will order a book for you, place a book plate in the book with your message on it, notify the person in whose honor it was given, and allow your child to be the first to check it out. The dedication form can be found on the Titus web site, and if you have any questions please feel free to contact Mrs. Moore, Titus librarian.
