Principal Newsletter
From the Desk of Mrs. Riley
February 9, 2018
I would like to take this opportunity to extend a warm and heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped to make our Catholic Schools Week a memorable success! From the Open House at the beginning of the week to the beautiful liturgy last Friday, and all of the wheel spinning activities in between, it was truly a wonderful week! A special thank you to the faculty, staff, and students for all of the time and effort they put forth in preparing for all of the special events. Our teachers and staff work hard, and our students work even harder! It is my hope that you were able to see evidence of that as you visited the classrooms and walked the school hallways.
We continue to move forward, one step at a time, ever mindful of how blessed we are for all that we have and for who we are - a faith filled Catholic community.
- Please note this important change in the school calendar. School will now be in session on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. This day will be an 11:45 dismissal with bus transportation. There will be no PM CARES.
- Another thank you to all the donors who continue to contribute to our Day of Giving. After the 24 period ending, we received many donations from those who missed the window..bringing our total amount raised to $16,500! Our goal is $20,000. Donations can still be made to meet our goal for the new Digital Learning Commons. Please place your donation in an envelope marked " Day of Giving" and send to the School Office.
- Our school community will celebrate Ash Wednesday with a liturgy at 10:30. Our PreK students will once again join us with their 8th grade buddies. Please join us as well if your schedule permits.
Thank you for your constant support and prayers for our school. I encourage you to continue to support our work as we advance our mission to provide a transformative education steeped in academics and faith to our deserving students. There is no greater investment for forming our future saints than a Catholic education!
Please carefully review this week's newsletter for many reminders and updates. We thank you for entrusting your children to us and for the sacrifices you make each day to send your child(ren) to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School.
God's Peace,
Mrs. Barbara Riley
Principal

"Virtue of the Month"
The virtue for the month of February is courage. Courage is the ability to show bravery when facing difficulties. Courage enables you to do what is right even when you are afraid of the consequences. It is the ability to overcome our fear and stand up for what is right in the eyes of God. If you see someone displaying the virtue of courage, fill out a virtue slip for them. The winners will be announced at our next Community Homeroom.
Healthy Hands/Healthy Heart
School Safety & Security
The safety of our students is our top priority. No visitor or volunteer may go to any area of the school without first signing in at the office and receiving a visitor’s badge. Visitors or volunteers are not permitted to go to a classroom to visit, confer with a teacher without an appointment, or visit any child in class, at lunch, or in the schoolyard. If parents wish to arrange a conference with a teacher or the principal, they should call the school office first.
