National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month
Teen dating violence— also called intimate relationship violence or intimate partner violence among adolescents or adolescent relationship abuse — includes physical, psychological or sexual abuse; harassment; or stalking of any person ages 12 to 18 in the context of a past or present romantic or consensual relationship.
It is important to understand and recognize the signs of teen dating violence. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), dating violence is not about love, it is about power and control. “Dating violence involves a pattern of behaviors that one partner uses to try to control the other. These behaviors may include physical and sexual violence and emotional abuse.”
CDC has created a factsheet that explains the warning signs of teen dating violence as well as strategies to prevent teen dating violence.

Semester Two ILP Activities
Arrange for advisories to complete?
On Tuesday, November 24th, all grade 9 students completed the Interest Profiler activity within their ILP in WaytoGoRI. This activity sheds light on what careers tend to match their interests. We hope this helps students think more about career choices.
On Wednesday, December 9th, all grade 10 students will be completing the Basic Skills Survey within their ILP on WaytoGoRI. This activity helps students understand how their skill set matches their potential career fields.
On Wednesday, December 16th, all grade 11 students will be completing the Work Values Sorter within their ILP on WaytoGoRI. This activity helps students understand how their values and choices impact possible career fields.
All Seniors will be completing an activity from 16Personalities.com. From 16 Personalities: “Take our Personality Test and get a 'freakishly accurate' description of who you are and why you do things the way you do.”
We believe that this will be a revealing exercise for the seniors and may help them better understand themselves as young adults.
