Kennedy's Life prior to Presidency
- Born into a wealthy family, including 8 siblings
- Suffered from several serious illnesses during his childhood
- Wrote a best-selling book while still attending Harvard
- Volunteered in combat duty in the Pacific during WWII
- Served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1947 to 1953
- Served in the U.S. Senate from 1953 to 1961
- Kennedy was the youngest, and first Roman Catholic to serve in office
- Married to Jaqueline Kennedy, together they had 3 children
The Election of 1960.
- John F Kennedy ran for the Democratic party, while his opponent, Richard Nixon ran for the Republican party
- Kennedy was able to defeat Nixon by having a large amount of women to support and vote for him, Joe Kennedy, John's father also paid large amounts of money for his son's campaign, JFK also supported desegregation and televised debates also helped him win the election of 1960
- Although JFK won the election, he did have some obstacles to overcome to be able to win, the first issue was his religion, which is roman catholic, he was also inexperienced and young, and his health, he had major back problems from serving in the war and had a rare disease called Addison's
JFK's successes and failures
- Kennedy's successes greatly outnumbered his failures
- Successes: The New Frontier Program, started to help with the civil rights of African Americans, prevented the Russians from attacking America with the missiles in Cuba, established the Peace Corps, helped in the Nuclear test ban, and prohibited discrimination
- Failures: The bay of pigs, was not able to pass the Civil Rights Act, not able to get welfare programs passed and got us into a deeper involvement in the Vietnam War

- Later in his life Robert Kennedy decided to run for the 1968 presidential campaign but after one of his speech's he was shot by Sirhan Bishara Sirhan
- Governor John Connally served as the Secretary of the Navy under President John F Kennedy, and Secretary of the Treasury under President Richard Nixon
