School Drop-Off Safety
New Construction Update
The schedule is very fluid and changes with the weather (just like today when the rain greatly reduced any construction activity), but demolition on the T-wing is scheduled to continue on Monday and is scheduled to be completed, with all the T and R-wing debris hauled away by Oct 18th. Demolition of S-wing will not begin until Oct 19th and is scheduled to be completed by Oct 26th. Therefore demolition of the S-wing will not begin until the wooden fence is up. Air quality sensors will be located on the fencing to identify any air contamination issues and spotters along with personnel designated to keep down dust with water hoses will be there to make the site safer. The thought of being able to use our two new buildings in the fall of 2023 helps us tolerate these inconvenient distractions.
A reminder to be careful when driving around the high school, especially during the construction. A little patience could be the all the difference needed to prevent an accident!

Remind - New Communication Application!
Vista Unified School District is committed to engaging families as partners in education. We continue to refine our communication systems to provide up to date information about teaching and learning, collaboration, family engagement, and college and career pathways. One important improvement of our plan is to implement a more efficient and seamless communication platform called Remind. The information below provides a preview of this important new feature of our communication plan.
We are excited to share that Vista Unified School District is rolling out Remind district-wide! If you're not already familiar with Remind, it's a classroom communication tool that makes it easy to stay involved with your child's learning. Remind is free to use, and you'll be able to get and send messages on any device—even a simple text message from your phone!
As part of this rollout, official accounts will be created for all the educators, parents, and students. You will receive an email or text message from Remind. All you need to do is follow the steps in the message to finish setting up your account. Here is a video demo to see how Remind works.
We're excited to make connecting with our families more engaging!

School Accountability Reports (SARC)
State law requires all public schools receiving state funding to prepare and distribute a SARC. The purpose of the report card is to provide parents and the community with important information about each public school. A SARC can be an effective way for a school to report on its progress in achieving goals. The public may also use a SARC to evaluate and compare schools on a variety of indicators. A hard copy will be made available upon request at the school site.
The SARC contains all of the following:
- Demographic data
- School safety and climate for learning information
- Academic data
- School completion rates
- Class sizes
- Teacher and staff information
- Curriculum and instruction descriptions
- Postsecondary preparation information
- Fiscal and expenditure data

Family & Community Engagement ♡
The Importance of Community Engagement
The work we do as Community Liaisons is built on interactive methods that bridge communication between our school and the community. Our culturally rich experiences serve as our foundation for helping our students and their parents in a safe and loving environment. Based on the demographics of our community, Spanish is the home language for many of our families and for this reason we provide bilingual support while also acknowledging and honoring all languages, backgrounds, and narratives. We assist in facilitating families with access to communication and resources. In our mission, we strive to make our greatest efforts to preserve our connections and encourage learning and education for both our students and their families. -Dalia R. Hipolito Martinez
