SCHOOL INFO FOR YOU
SCHOOL REPORT CARD TO THE PUBLIC
Parents,
As a requirement of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, states and school districts must issue annual report cards to parents. The purpose of the report card is to provide parents with information about the district and their child’s school in terms of teacher qualifications, academic achievement, and school/district accountability. To access the report cards, visit our website and select School Report Card to the Public at www.matsuk12.us/ble. If you would like a written copy of our school’s report card, please contact: Jason Moen, Assistant Principal.
CANNED FOOD & NON-PERISHABLE FOOD DRIVE
November 6 - 16, 2017
Please help those in need by supporting the canned food and non-perishable food drive. The class that collects the most items will receive a pizza party compliments of the Big Lake Lions and Big Lake Elementary. All food collected is distributed to Big Lake area families through St. Vincent de Paul and Big Lake Community Food Pantry. Your donation is greatly appreciated.
HMS ANNUAL HOLIDAY DINNER
CRAFT NIGHT
NURSE RX
The nurse is screening students for height, weight, vision, and hearing for all students in Kdg, 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades starting this month. If you have any questions please call Nurse Moore at 892-9705.
WINTER GEAR
Winter arrived this week.
All children need to be dressed appropriately for the weather. Whether they are waiting at the bus stop or at playing at recess time they should wear boots, snow pants, coats, gloves, and a hat. Please make sure your children have these items. Younger children have a hard time regulating their body temperature and do not always know when they are getting cold. Thus, if they do not have the appropriate gear they will not be allowed to go to recess. The school has very few items that students may borrow.
There are many places in the valley to get gently used gear. These include:
The Clothing Closet in Big Lake (The Green Building) open on Wednesday and all is free.
Turning Leaf in Wasilla has a 50 cent day on Wednesday for clothes/$1.00 for all outer gear and shoes
Value Village (watch for half off tags and this changes daily)
These are just a few places. If you have questions you can call Nurse Moore @ 892-9705, or e-mail to Nancy.Moore@matsuk12.us.
MUSIC NOTES
The Choir is singing in the Big Lake Tree Lighting Ceremony and Parade on Saturday, December 2nd. The Parade starts at Big Lake Elementary at 6:30pm so choir students need to be at the school by 6pm in their cold weather gear. We will meet at the portable by the bus loop. The parade ends at the Lions Rec Center with cookies and hot cocoa and then it's open skate night. We look forward to seeing you there!
