Chromebook Information
We are writing to inform you of an increase in Chromebook damages and the associated repair costs. Chromebooks are valuable tools for learning, and it is important that we take care of them to ensure their longevity.
Common Chromebook Damages
The following are some of the most common Chromebook damages:
- Screen cracks
- Broken hinges
- Liquid spills
- Missing or damaged keys
- Cosmetic scratches and dents
Upcoming Charges for Broken Devices
In order to offset the cost of repairing damaged Chromebooks, we will be implementing a new policy whereby parents will be responsible for the cost of repairs. The following charges will apply:
Approximate Replacement Costs
**Based on fluctuating market prices.
● Labor cost-68.00/hour
● Battery-$50
● Camera- $65
● LCD Back Cover with LCD Cable-$50
● Internal Speaker Set- $19
● Palmrest Assembly w/Keyboard & Touchpad- $75
● Wifi Card- $25
● AC Power Adapter -$35
● LCD Assembly-$100
● Full Replacement -$285
We encourage you to take the following steps to prevent Chromebook damage:
- Handle Chromebooks with care. Do not drop, throw, or bend Chromebooks.
- Keep Chromebooks closed when not in use. This will help to protect the screen from damage.
- Avoid exposing Chromebooks to liquids. If a Chromebook does get wet, turn it off immediately and bring it to the IT department for repair.
- Use a Chromebook case. A case can help to protect the Chromebook from scratches and dents.
- Report any damage to the IT department immediately. Early detection can often prevent further damage and costly repairs.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us to maintain our Chromebooks and keep them in good working order for all students.
