Ohio’s State Tests tell us how well our students are growing in the knowledge and skills outlined in Ohio’s Learning Standards. These tests help guide and strengthen future teaching so we can be sure that we are preparing our students for long-term success in school, college, careers and life. Test results also allow citizens to know how their local schools are performing compared to others around the state.
We appreciate your help in making this a positive and successful experience for your student. A few suggestions to help your student:
1. Make sure your student gets a good night of sleep prior to each test date.
2. Make sure your student has a healthy breakfast at home and/or takes advantage of the school's free breakfast.
3. Make sure your student arrives at school on time. We test in the morning on these dates. If a student arrives late, they will not be allowed to enter the classroom once testing has begun and will end up utilizing a make-up date to complete the test.
4. It is very important to minimize student appointments and/or your student being absent on these dates. If a student is absent or has an appointment during these dates, they will end up utilizing a make-up date to complete the test.
5. Gently encourage your students to do their best. While we all want our students to do their best, we also want the students to not feel excess stress or anxiety.
If you have additional questions, please reference the state’s testing website for more information: https://education.ohio.gov/Topics/Testing
Transition to the Junior High
Hello 6th grade families!
Verification Sheets were uploaded to everyone’s “My eBackpack” last Friday evening. The Verification Sheet is a simple list of the courses planned for next school year. Please take a moment to review your child’s courses and if you have any questions, you can reach out to the Junior High counselors for assistance.
In addition, any Course Adjustment Request (CAR) forms are due no later than April 8th. If needed, the form can be found here, and is also available on the District website: Junior High → Counseling → Course Adjustment
Thank you,
The JH counseling team

For all incoming 7th graders who are interested in running cross country this fall, please join our JH Cross Country 2022 Google Classroom. This will allow you to view the summer running plan and tentative fall meet schedule, as well as view ideas for dynamics & stretching, strength training, and cross-training. The Google Classroom code is arcfboi. We are hoping to coordinate some voluntary summer group runs in July. Our first day of mandatory practice is Monday, August 1st. Please be sure to sign up for cross country on Final Forms as early as possible so that you are part of my email distribution list. Final Forms registration for fall sports opens on June 7th. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Hromadka (hromadkam@sycamoreschools.org).
Thank you so much,

Greene Walking Program is back!
The PTO is excited to start the Greene Walking Program back up this spring. The program is a great opportunity for you to get some exercise, burn off some energy during recess, and earn prizes at the same time. The program will be available every Tuesday and Thursday during recess, starting on March 1st.
All you have to do to participate is add your name to the google doc that was included in the email you received about the program.
There is no obligation to walk each week, but that is how we will keep track of the laps you have walked. 7 times around the track is 1 mile. For the first mile you walk, you will receive a sneaker keychain. Different prizes will be given out for each mile after that.
There will be a parent volunteer at recess keeping track of your laps so make sure you check in with him/her after each lap. Simply give them your name each time you pass and start earning prizes!
So grab a few friends, enjoy some fresh air and exercise and have fun!
Greene Walking Program - Parent Volunteers Needed
We are looking for parent volunteers to help with the Walking Program to take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays during recess, starting March 1st. Volunteers will help tally laps walked and hand out prizes during 5th and 6th grade recesses. Please see sign up genius below or contact Erica Armstrong ericaarmstrong3@gmail.com or Melissa Moeddel melissamoeddel@gmail.com for more information.
