Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 1st October 2021
Spiritual Council 2021
Spiritual Council 2021
This week we gave the children in Year 5 and Year 6 the opportunity to apply to be part of our Spiritual Council. We were extremely impressed with the quality of the applications and how thoughtful the children's responses were. The governors looked over the applications and appointed 8 children to our new council for this year. I know that they are very excited about working on collective worship and developing how our chapel is used as a space for reflection and prayer.

Harvest Thursday 7th October 2021
As a school we have regularly worked with Ripon City of Sanctuary and some of our children will be attending a special sanctuary service at the Cathedral next week. As part of our Harvest week we are asking our school families if they would like to support this special local charity by sending in donations of toiletries on Thursday 7th October. Ripon City of Sanctuary have suggested the following items that could be donated:
Message from Ripon City of Sanctuary
If the children want to collect toiletries again, they need to be new and unused (the toiletries, not the children!)
- Shampoo
- Conditioner
- Deodorant
- Hand cream
- Soap
- Toothpaste
- Toothbrush
- Nail clippers
If they’d like to bring in new underwear, they can bring in a vest, a pair of pants or a pair of socks for a child (possibly their own age) – or a multipack. We mention underwear as there is a real need with the families we work with.
Nicola David
I know that they are very grateful for our support.
Year 5 and Year 6 Music Lessons from Friday 8th October 2021
Parent Consultations 20th and 21st October 2021
The feedback that we gathered following the meetings was very positive with many families finding the process easier, as families didn't have to think about childcare and in many cases it allowed for both parents to attend. Families did comment that they would like this approach to continue, therefore we will be using the same format for our autumn term consultations.
In the next couple of weeks you will receive a communication with a link to book your appointment and on the day of the consultation you will be provided with a link to access the video call.

Oscar's Club Christmas Dates!
We are in the process of confirming Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd December as our Christmas Holiday Club dates. Booking will go live as soon as our building management company confirm. We will not be holding the club in the October half term break.
We are finding that the breakfast and after school clubs are busier than ever now that parents are returning to work away from the home. However, we still have room so do make sure you are set up on the booking site so that you can arrange any childcare needs.
Please contact Mrs Rich in the office if you have any questions or experience issues logging on.
